Crop rotation is an agricultural technique to keep the soil fertility and reduce problems such as pests, fungus, bacteria, etc. Crop rotation is basically changing the type of crop after each harvest.

For example if we planted tomato, a high nutrient demanding crop, the population of white fly would increase after the harvest. Therefore we plant raddish to make the soil rest because it has a low demand of nutrients.
After the soil has rested for a month we can now plant corn in order to starve the white fly with food and eventually decrease the population.
After the corn harvest is done we can once again plant tomato and that is how the rotation goes on. Different crops will need different types of nutrients in the process of crop rotation.
